I began collecting vintage Asian fabrics several years ago and was inspired to start sewing. I am fascinated by handwoven textiles and textile design and I even worked as a weaver in college. I have been influenced by my travels throughout Central Africa, the Middle East and India (including Assam). My lifelong obsession is botany and gardening and that is reflected in the fabrics that I use.
I grew up on many archaeological digs in the Pacific Northwest. My parents did some archaeology at Kanaka Village at Ft. Vancouver, Hatiupuh and at Lake Roosevelt in Washington State. They also excavated Lapwai Village in Idaho. As a high school student I worked as my father’s assistant excavating at City of Rocks in Southern Idaho.
I studied Biology in college and became a high school biology teacher. I am now a mom to two human primates. I enjoy bicycling with my husband. Check out his blog:
